In 1849 Queen Victoria ruled the land, Primrose had recently become Prime Minister and Charles Dickens was busily writing himself into the history books and in the white heat of the Industrial Revolution, John Thomas Sawyer was about to launch his new "Plain and Fancy Box Manufacturing Company". 

Operating initially out of premises on Bradshaw Street, Shudehill Manchester, a fire in the late 1800`s forced a move to Granby Row (opposite what is now Piccadily Station).

Disaster struck again during the Second World War & the factory on Granby Row was hit during a German air raid, forcing the move to the premises in Stockport where the Company has resided ever since.

 Since its beginnings in 1849 the company ethos has stayed true to our founders vision, to provide a high quality product with exceptional customer service.

Manufacturing facilities include a full range of hand fed and semi-automatic box wrappers, die cutting and 2 colour foil blocking, as well as a hand box making department that has seen it all before, but possesses the vision to create something totally new when required!
